Flavorseal will almost double its building size in an expansion that will make room for a new line of products, storage, and approximately 10 new employees over the next 18 months.

The company will enlarge its approximately 70,000-square-foot building by about 63,500 square feet at a cost of between $3.8 million and $5.3 million—a strategic growth initiative for Flavorseal.

“The expansion will house additional warehouse space and production offices plus our newly expanded Quality Control Testing Laboratory and a production room for the seasoning technology we recently acquired,” says President and CEO Chris Carroll. “We expect to be up and running in the new space by the end of March,” Carroll added.

The new technology, under the supervision of Ingredients Market Manager Jason Reicks, has yielded a new Flavorseal product that acts like an easy marinade for various foods, which will be available at retail later this year. Plastic films are coated with seasonings, such as teriyaki, lemon-pepper and honey barbecue, and can be wrapped around meats, cheeses, and other foods to add flavor before cooking.

The production area will include a printing press that will allow the company to print graphics on films—a job that has been outsourced until now. A test kitchen also will be added.

The company, whose customers include Top 100 food processors, has grown considerably since its humble beginning in Carroll’s home in 1998. For Flavorseal, now located in Avon, this building addition is the company’s fourth facility-expansion effort in 12 years.
